The Film Festival

The Film Festival is South Dakota’s first-ever local film festival ran by people with disabilities FOR people with disabilities. We seek films from all over the world to showcase the talents of people with physical and developmental disabilities. Our team is passionate about giving people with disability/rare diseases the opportunity to express themselves on the BIG screen!

For films to have a chance at being screened, a person with a disability/rare disease must have a major role in the production process either in front of or behind the camera. As long as the film meets these criteria, the festival is open for anyone to submit.

We are accepting both short films (between 1 and 10 minutes) and feature-length films (between 10 – 30 minutes) to be screened at The Film Festival. Films can cover any subject matter and be any genre: Drama, Comedy, Documentary, etc. Anything, as long as people with disabilities/rare diseases are expressing themselves!

Submissions for 'The Film Festival' 2024 will be accepted from June 1st through the 30th. Filmmakers can submit their films through the online film festival platform FilmFreeway.

The inaugural 'The Film Festival' event will be held at the Sioux Falls State Theatre in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on September 19th from 6-9 p.m.
