About the event

The  Film Festival is South Dakota’s first-ever local film festival ran by people with disabilities FOR people with disabilities. We seek films from all over the world to showcase the talents of people with physical and developmental disabilities. Our team is passionate about giving people with disabilities and rare diseases the opportunity to express themselves on the BIG screen!

For films to have a chance at being screened, a person with a disability/rare disease must have a major role in the production process either in front of or behind the camera. As long as the film meets these criteria, the festival is open for anyone to submit.

We accepted both short films (between 1 and 10 minutes) and feature-length films (between 10 – 30 minutes) to be screened at The Film Festival.  Films can cover any subject matter and be any genre: Drama, Comedy,  Documentary, etc. Anything, as long as people with disabilities and rare diseases are expressing themselves!

What Can I Expect at ‘The Film Festival’?

Films, of course! You’ll see the very best from filmmakers with disabilities/rare diseases in the region and around the world. You will have a chance to hear them talk about their films, ask questions and meet them in person.

Who Can Attend ‘The Film Festival’?

The Film Festival is open to the general public. Tickets will be available for purchase in advance soon. Tickets are first come, first serve.
